The Law Department has an undergraduate major also rated as a national first-class discipline, with the authority to confer master's degrees in Law and Juris Master (JM). The department has 16 full-time faculty members, including 4 professors, 7 associate professors, and 5 assistant professors. 72% of the faculty have PhD. degrees, and over one-third have international academic experience. In recent years, the faculty have undertaken dozens of national and provincial research projects and published hundreds of papers in important journals. The department is well-known among all law departments in Heilongjiang province in the field of talent cultivation, faculty strength, research, and social service.
The Law Department fosters law professionals with a firm belief in socialist legal systems, well-educated in morals and capabilities, knowledgeable in Marxist theory and solid legal theory, with a strong sense of social responsibility, legal ethics, international perspectives, and innovative and practical abilities. Graduates are prepared to serve in government agencies, enterprises, research institutions, and social organizations, especially in legal practice, legal services, and industries in shipping, sea, and nuclear sectors. Following the integration of theory and practice, the Law Department is dedicated to cultivating reliable and practical legal professionals and offers not only traditional legal theory courses but specialized courses in maritime law and nuclear law. Through long-term practical teaching, we have established stable cooperation mechanisms with local governments, the shipping industry, the civil nuclear power industry, significantly contributing to local legal construction in Heilongjiang province and related industry development.
